Extra 5 EMU trains, 20 MTC buses: Check out full timetable for Tambaram to Chennai Beach route

From February 20, the platforms will remain closed for 45 days. This has resulted in reduced suburban train frequency and overcrowding during peak hours.

CHENNAI: Southern Railway has released the full timetable of the 5 additional temporary 15-car EMU train services and 20 bus services announced between Tambaram and Chennai Beach. The relief measure is expected to ease the ongoing disruption caused by the temporary closure of Platforms 10 and 11 at Egmore for redevelopment works. 

From February 20, the platforms will remain closed for 45 days. This has resulted in reduced suburban train frequency and overcrowding during peak hours.

The temporary shuttle trains, which will have limited stoppages at Tambaram, Mambalam, Guindy, Egmore, and Beach stations only, will come into effect from February 28, while the additional MTC buses are operational from today (February 26).

What are the timings of the 5 additional EMU trains?

Southern Railway will operate these five temporary 15-car EMU train services, as a shuttle service, in the up direction and five in the down direction, in addition to existing services, from February 28 to until further notice:

Up direction: Tambaram to Chennai Beach

Tambaram departures: 6.40 am, 7.10 am, 8.10 am, 8.55 am, 9.15 am

Guindy departures: 6.55 am, 7.25 am, 8.25 am, 9.10 am, 9.30 am

Mambalam departures: 7.00 am, 7.30 am, 8.30 am, 9.15 am, 9.35 am

Chennai Egmore arrivals: 7.10 am, 7.40 am, 8.55 am, 9.25 am, 9.50 am

Chennai Beach arrivals: 7.40 am, 8.10 am, 9.10 am, 9.55 am, 10.50 am

Down direction: Chennai Beach to Tambaram

Chennai Beach departures: 5.15 pm, 5.30 pm, 6.10 pm, 7.10 pm, 8.00 pm

Chennai Egmore departures: 5.30 pm, 5.45 pm, 6.26 pm, 7.30 pm, 8.15 pm

Mambalam departures: 5.40 pm, 5.55 pm, 6.35 pm, 7.40 pm, 8.25 pm

Guindy departures: 5.45 pm, 6.00 pm, 6.40 pm, 7.45 pm, 8.30 pm

Tambaram arrivals: 6.15 pm, 6.30 pm, 7.10 pm, 8.10 pm, 9.00 pm

What are the timings of the 10 extra MTC buses?

Southern Railway, in coordination with the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), will operate these 20 temporary buses (which equals to 40 daily trips) between Tambaram Railway Station and Chennai Beach Station, during peak hours, from February 26 to until further notice.

-- Morning peak hours: 20 bus trips between 6.40 am to 9.40 am, Tambaram to Chennai Beach

-- Evening peak hours: 20 bus trips between 5 pm to 8 pm, Chennai Beach to Tambaram

-- Stoppages: MTC bus stations of Tambaram Sanitorium, Chrompet, Pallavaram, Tirusulam, Guindy, Ezhilagam, Secretariat, and Parrys Corner

-- Frequency: One bus every seven minutes

-- Free travel for valid EMU and season ticket holders

6.30 am, 6.37 am, 6.44 am, 6.58 am, 7.05 am, 7.12 am, 7.26 am, 7.33 am, 7.40 am, 7.54 am, 8.01 am, 8.15 am, 8.22 am, 8.29 am, 8.43 am.

Tambaram to Chennai Beach - Via Guindy, T Nagar, Egmore, Central, Parrys Corner:
6.51 am, 7.19 am, 7.47 am, 8.08 am, 8.36 am.

Chennai Beach to Tambaram - Via Secretariat, Chepauk, Anna Salai, Guindy:
5.00 pm, 5.07 pm, 5.14 pm, 5.28 pm, 5.35 pm, 5.42 pm, 5.56 pm, 6.03 pm, 6.10 pm, 6.24 pm, 6.31 pm, 6.45 pm, 6.52 pm, 6.59 pm, 7.13 pm.

Chennai Beach to Tambaram - Via Parrys Corner, Central, Egmore, T Nagar, Guindy:
