Chennai rottweiler attack: Five-year-old girl's scalp surgery successful, say sources

Unofficial sources with the hospital said that the surgery has been successfully and that the child is doing well. She is expected to be discharged on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: The 5-year-old girl, who was attacked by two Rottweiler dogs at a corporation park on Sunday, underwent a plastic surgery of the scalp at a private hospital in the city on Thursday.

The attack on the child had led to severe injuries on the legs and scalp. The attack by the dogs had led to the ripping of the scalp to about 11 inches. The hospital authorities say that the child is currently stable and the surgery by specialists was scheduled on Thursday noon.

The father of the girl had told the media on Wednesday, that he did not want anything else but that his daughter should come back healthy and recover soon.

Unofficial sources with the hospital said that the surgery has been performed successfully and the child is doing well. She is expected to be discharged on Tuesday.

"The surgery was performed after two days of the admission as the doctors were waiting to find out if there are any Rabies symptoms. There were no such symptoms and she is now stable. The surgery was performed successfully and she is now recovering well. The other health parameters and injuries are also being monitored by the doctors, " said a source from the hospital.
