COIMBATORE: A stray dog went on a biting spree attacking three kids in Rasipuram in Namakkal on Thursday.

Police identified the injured children as B Tejasvarshan, 4; M Yahaveer, 5; and Priyadarshini, 11; all hailing from the same neighbourhood in the third ward in Vadugam panchayat near Rasipuram.

Tejasvarshan, son of the couple Boolohanathan, a driver and Parthasarathy was playing in front of his house when the dog pounced on him and bit his cheeks. As the boy cried out in pain, his parents rushed out and chased away the dog.

Earlier, the same dog had bitten Boolohanathan’s five-year-old nephew M Yahaveer, 5 residing in the same neighbourhood and 11-year- old S Priyadarshini, daughter of Siva. Shockingly, the dog had entered the house and bitten the girl.

All three children were rushed to Rasipuram Government Hospital. While Priyadarshini and Yahaveer, who suffered minor injuries in their hands and legs, were discharged, Tejasvarshan continued to be under treatment in the hospital.

Following the incident, the villagers have urged the district administration to capture the stray mongrels.
