CHENNAI: Leaders of the alliance parties of the ruling DMK met chief minister M K Stalin at the state secretariat late Monday night and urged him to repeal the Factories Amendment Bill 2023.
Talking to media persons after meeting the CM, Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani said, “It is a win-win situation. It is a democratic government which lends ears to the people and acts in accordance with it. It is not a government which pays heed only after organising a protest. Our appreciations to the Chief Minister for the decision.”
Asked if the CM assured to repeal the bill, Veeramani said, “There are two options. One is keeping a bill in abeyance. When the government says, it puts a bill on hold, it means the government has paid due attention to the issue. It is a good beginning towards that (repeal).”
State congress president K S Alagiri, state CPM secretary K Balakrishnan, state CPI secretary R Mutharasan, VCK leader Ravikumar and Tamizhaga Valvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan were among the alliance leaders who met the CM.
The alliance leaders were learnt to have thanked the CM for the decision to keep the Bill in abeyance and urged him to repeal the bill permanently.
