TIRUCHY: The AC mechanic who sustained severe injuries after the gas cylinder explosion while filling gas in the compressor succumbed despite undergoing surgeries in Thanjavur on Friday.

On May 18, while an AC mechanic, Ganesan (43), was filling gas at an AC compressor at a KFC outlet at Mary’s Corner in Thanjavur, the gas cylinder exploded. Under the impact, one KFC employee died while five people, including Ganesan, sustained severe injuries. The injured were undergoing treatment at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. Hospital sources said that Ganesan underwent multiple surgeries; however, he succumbed despite treatment. The death toll increased to two in the incident.
