AIADMK headquarters case: Theft, rioting case registered against OPS

On July 11, violence broke out outside the AIADMK hq, even as a general council meet that day expelled Panneerselvam from the party and picked his rival K Palaniswami as the party's interim chief.

CHENNAI: A case of theft and rioting registered against former chief minister and AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam , Vaithilingam and Manoj Pandian in connection with incidents happened at the party headquarters on July 11, has been transferred to CB-CID for further probe.

Chennai Police had registered the case under IPC Sections 147, 148, 454, 380, 409, 427 and 506 against the three party leaders. The allegation includes stealing Rs 31,000 cash, documents damaging ADMK office building property, among other things.

AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam, along with 200 hooligans carrying deadly weapons trespassed into the party headquarters on July 11 and ransacked the office and attacked the persons manning it and other party cadres.They also caused damage to the office equipment and took away important files and documents and other valuable items kept in the office.
