CHENNAI: Originally scheduled to release on December 12, the release of Vaa Vaathiyaar was delayed due to various reasons. On Saturday, the makers announced that the Karthi-starrer will hit the screens on January 14, eyeing the Pongal holidays.

Billed to be a comedy entertainer, the film is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. The star cast includes Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar and Ramesh Thilak, among others.

Studio Green is producing the project, in which George C Williams ISC is handling the camera. Vetre Krishnan is taking care of the cuts. Santhosh Narayanan is composing the music. The trailer, which was released a few days ago, promises a full-fledged comedy with fantasy elements.

Before this, the Madras High Court stalled the release of the film over the producer’s pending dues to an investor.

Earlier in an interview with DT Next, Krithi Shetty shared that Vaa Vaathiyaar is mystical. The actor, who is a huge fan of Karthi, said about the experience working with him and added, “I have been a fan of his since Paiyya. There is a saying in cinema, ‘Never meet your heroes’. But Karthi sir was beyond what I expected. He has stayed humble since the first day we met on the sets of Vaa Vaathiyaar. Also, being a star, he is secure and gives a good amount of space to his co-actors and makes others feel secure too and wants them to do better.”
