Mamata plays We Shall Overcome on street musician’s accordion in Frankfurt
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is currently on a 10-day trip to Germany and Italy, was found recently playing the famous We Shall Overcome tune on the streets of Frankfurt. While taking a tour of the city, the Chief Minister stopped for coffee and a quick chat with a street musician in a Mickey Mouse costume. Thereafter, she quickly keyed in the famous piece, which shares the same tune and lyrics with the Bengali version ‘Amra Korbo Joy’ and the Hindi version ‘Hum Honge Kamiyab’. Albeit, many were surprised to see an Indian woman in saree playing accordion in the heart of the German city.
Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star defamed, ‘placed behind bars’ by local artist
US President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalised again this week. This time, it was covered by wooden bars affixed with industrial, double-sided tape. A local artist, Plastic Jesus, who reportedly defaced the star, explained, “Well, it’s because Trump’s going to jail.” The star was restored by noon. Unveiled in 2007, the star was restored only two weeks ago, amid need for a facelift since Trump entered politics.
German athlete banned from ‘all-you-can-eat’restaurant for eating 100 plates of food
German athlete Jaroslav Bobrowski was recently banned from ‘all-you-can-eat’ sushi restaurant after he reportedly consumed around 100 plates of food. According to media reports, each of the plates had two to three sushis. “He eats for five people. That is not normal,” said the owner of the eatery, Tan Le.
“This created a big hole on the sushi carousel and the other guests were asking if we had any more fish,” the owner added. According to the report, the triathlete follows an extreme diet, which also includes a stretch of 20 hours during which he doesn’t eat at all, and then eats until he is full.
