TN cyclists win 10 medals at National Track Championship

Athletes selected from the recently-concluded Tamil Nadu State Track Championship represented the state at the Nationals and won 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Tamil Nadu cyclists returned with a strong medal haul from the 77th Senior, 54th Junior and 40th Sub-Junior National Track Championship held in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, from December 19 to 23, winning a total of 10 medals across categories.

Athletes selected from the recently-concluded Tamil Nadu State Track Championship represented the state at the Nationals and won 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

In the men’s elite category, N Kishore secured a bronze medal in the 10km Scratch Race.

The women’s junior contingent delivered standout results, with the team of Niraimathi, Jyothsna and Thabitha winning gold in the Team Sprint event. Jyothsna also claimed gold in the Women’s Junior Sprint Race.

Niraimathi finished with silver medals in both the Women’s Junior Points Race and Scratch Race, while Thabitha won silver in the Women’s Junior Keirin, Sprint and Individual Time Trial events. In the Sub-Junior Girls category, Hashini won bronze in the Scratch Race, and Vinesh secured bronze in the Youth Boys 2 km Individual Pursuit.

Kishore, Jyothsna, Thabitha, Niraimathi and Hashini are beneficiaries of the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation, which has been supporting their training and development.

TNCA president M Sudhakar congratulated the medal winners and encouraged them to push for international success.
