CHENNAI: With just about three weeks left for the Lok Sabha election, Senior BJP leader and S C Morcha State president Tada Periyasamy of the party on Saturday joined the AIADMK.
Periyasamy met the AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami formally and extended his support to later. Though, there was no official information in connection with the resignation, BJP sources said that Periyasamy was upset as he could not get Chidambaram seat.
In 2004 Lok Sabha polls, Periyasamy had contested Chidambaram constituency and could get only third spot. In addition, he was also defeated in Tittakudi Assembly constituency in 2021.
BJP has fielded, P Karthiyayini for the Chidambaram LS seat and will faceoff VCK's Thol Thirumavalavan and AIADMK's M Chandrahaasan.
Parliamentary elections are going to be held on April 19 in Tamil Nadu.
