“Earlier, the tone and tenor of the Raj Bhavan used to be mild and respectful while seeking government records but some officials there took a more high-handed approach. There was a time when a senior official in Raj Bhavan asked for a lot of records which ate into our time and energy, but now this has changed,” said an informed official at the State secretariat. Earlier, there was a constant stand-off between the State and the Raj Bhavan, but now, lines of communications have become more pleasant and diplomatic, admitted another official.

Meanwhile, the foresters attached to Guindy National Park (GNP) housing the Raj Bhavan campus are also happy as the ‘stringent security’ measures imposed inside GNP since 2017 have been eased giving due respect for those working inside government offices located inside GNP. “There are several families residing inside GNP and government staff visit Raj Bhavan daily. Earlier, there were too many restrictions being imposed which were stifling, but now the mood is changing. The Raj Bhavan campus is slowly returning to its pristine golden days,” opined a forest department insider.
