What do the new guidelines of central government say?
As per the new guidelines the persons with disabilities should be given the right to select scribe to write their exams and they should be given the opportunity to meet the scribe two days before the examination to assess the latter’s proficiency. If the Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates prefer to write their examination by themselves using braille, computer and audio recorded question, question papers should be issued using the concerned technology.
What are the other PwD-friendly recommendations given by the guideline?
The guideline also entails the concerned boards to give an extra 20 minutes every one hour to the persons with disabilities. There is no need for separate rules for separate competitive exams.
What is the demand?
As the public exams are nearing, the state government should also frame guidelines for scribes, readers and lab assistants. The government should issue a government order in this regard.
