CHENNAI: What a day it has been for the Indian contingents, started off with Neeraj Chopra qualifying to the finals and wrestler Vinesh Phogat qualifying to the finals both of whom wnow has a chance to win a gold for India.
India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra has qualified to the finals of the men’s javelin throw in his first attempt with a mammoth 89.34m. With the season-best throw, he has now entered the finals.
Ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat defeated Yusneylis Guzman Lopez of Cuba 5-0 in the women's freestyle 50kg semi-final and creates history by becoming the first Indian women wrestler to enter an Olympic final.
Meanwhile, Kishore Jena finished in the 9th place in the qualification round for the Group B Javelin event.
It was a miss for India's table tennis players Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar who lost to the Chinese team straight down 3-0, today.
Indian hockey team would be devastated after a lose like that against Germany in the semi-finals. They went down 2-3 against them in a match that went down the wire till the last second.
On the other hand, Indian athlete Kiran Pahal finished 6th in the women's 400m repechage heat round.
