A few weeks ago, advocate-BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay stood in the Supreme Court arguing for his own petition on hate speech. Although many netizens have shared videos of Upadhyay pitching him as a supporter of free speech, his dubious past has called into question such claims. At an event reportedly organised by him, open calls for ‘cleansing’ were made against Muslims.
