No, your surgical masks don’t have worms

A two-minute video of a man burning disposable surgical face masks in the presence of policemen has gone viral.

According to the man, such masks contain black coloured microscopic worms which cause COVID-19. The video shows black strands on the mask that have been declared ‘worms’. Scientists have debunked the misinformation, stating that the black worm-like substances are harmless microfibre components of the mask.
