LUCKNOW: A video of a man allegedly offering namaz in a temple in Prayagraj has gone viral. A regional news portal in UP describes how a bearded young man with a ‘gamcha’ (cotton towel) on his shoulders could be seen bowing and gesturing in prayer (offering namaz). The police countered it by saying the devotee often comes to the temple. He was offering prayers, seated in Vajrasan, a posture adopted during yoga or prayers. From his appearance, people misconstrued his religious identity and gave it a contentious spin.
