Last week, an Amul ad featuring Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar went viral. The ad depicted a caricature of actor-turned-politician Matondkar from her 1995 film Rangeela. A journalist criticised the milk major for coming up with a “disgusting” ad. “When did you join the IT cell,” questioned the scribe who later deleted the tweet. Turns out, the ad from 1995 was Amul’s tribute to Rangeela, which was falsely shared as its response to the latest Kangana controversy.
