Youth loses Rs 2.17 lakh to job fraudster

Thanjavur Cyber Crime police registered a case on Thursday against miscreants who cheated Rs 2.17 lakh with false promise of arranging a job abroad.

TIRUCHY: Thanjavur Cyber Crime police registered a case on Thursday against miscreants who cheated Rs 2.17 lakh with false promise of arranging a job abroad. A 24-year-old youth from Peravurani in Thanjavur who was trying for employment abroad was approached by a Chennai-based agency which promised him of arranging employment abroad. The youth continued the call and the caller asked him for a fee for processing Visa and arrangement of interview and so the youth paid a sum of Rs 2.17 lakh to the private firm in several installments. After paying the money, the youth had not received any call from the agency. There was no response to several of his calls too later. Only then, he realised that he was cheated. Subsequently, he approached the Thanjavur Cyber Crime police who registered a case.
