Women self-help group members complain against micro finance firms

A section of women customers of micro finance firms staged a sit in protest condemning the officials, who threatened them to pay EMIs with interest, in front of the Taluk office on Monday.

The members of various outfits including the AIDWA, who gathered at Tiruvermbur taluk office and alleged that the employees of micro finance firms threaten the women self-help groups, who secured loans to pay them with interest promptly and reportedly use abusive words against them. Since the lockdown, they demanded relaxation of interest and a moratorium of loans till 2021. Raising slogans, they attempted to besiege the taluk office and Tahsildhar Senthil held talks with the agitating members and assured to speak to the finance firms. Subsequently, they dispersed from the spot.
