VANIYAMBADI: A mother and son committed suicide by consuming poison as the daughter-in- law of the house gave birth to a babygirl, on Saturday. According to police, Murali (27) was a resident of Mandalavadi village near Jolarpet and was married recently to Induja (20) a year ago. She delivered a female child. Murali was the third son of Sivakami (55) wife of Sekar. Their two elder sons committed suicide some years ago. After mother and son visited Induja in the Tirupattur GH they came home depressed over a girl child being born to Murali. Hence they consumed poison mixed in the chicken they ate on Friday night and both succumbed. Neighbours who noticed the house door being locked on Saturday informed Jolorpet police who broke the door and entered the house to find both mother and son dead. The bodies were sent to the Tirupattur GH for post mortem while a case was registered.
