COIMBATORE: A 24-year-old woman cop ended her life by hanging at the police quarters in Tirupur on Thursday. Police said Ranjani (24), daughter of Raja, from Tiruvannamalai, had been serving in the armed reserve wing in Tirupur since joining the force in 2022.
She was residing at the police quarters in Nallur. “After attending the roll call, she returned home around 10.30 am and locked herself inside. She was found hanging," police said.
Before taking the extreme step, she informed a woman cop, who then alerted other cops staying in the same block. Some cops broke open the doors and rushed her in a critical state to a hospital; however, she died on the way. An investigation is on.
