Woman cop dies in accident, CM Stalin announces Rs 25 lakh solaitum

An official release said the cop, Ms Vimala (28), attached to Mandaiyur police station, was travelling on official duty on the Pudukottai-Trichy National Highway when a four wheeler hit her two-wheeler from behind.

TIRUCHY: A woman police constable was hit by a speeding car while she was on the way to duty in Pudukkottai and died on impact. The police arrested have arrested the car driver. Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a solatium of Rs 25 lakh to the cop’s kin.

M Vimala (28), a resident of Kulathur Pallathupatti in Pudukkottai, was working as a police constable at Mandaiyur police station. While Vimala was travelling to Pudukkottai for duty on Thursday, a car hit her two-wheeler when she was nearing Keeranur on Tiruchy-Pudukkottai National Highway.

Vimala was thrown off the bike and died on the spot with a severe head injury. Passersby rushed to her aid and sent her to the Tiruchy GH. She is survived by her husband Manikandan, who is working in Singapore, and a two-year-old son.

Based on the information, Mandaiyur police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. The police also arrested the car driver, Veninraj, a resident of Nizam Colony in Pudukkottai.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister MK Stalin condoled her death and announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the kins of Vimala.

The Chief Minister also expressed deep grief and anguish over the death of Vimala.

Describing her death as an irreparable loss to the Tami Nadu police department, he also offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
