With no takers, two Vellore shops gave chicken biryani for free

In a bid to create awareness that eating chicken would in no way spread coronavirus as was speculated on various social media messages, two enterprising traders in Ambur got together to provide free biryani and chicken 65 to locals on Sunday.

Vellore

Rampant speculations on chicken consumption had affected the poultry trade in the town with the price of chicken slumping to Rs 30 per kilo from the earlier Rs 80 on Sunday resulting in there being no takers for the meat. It was then that two enterprising biryani shop owners got together and put up a one-day offer of free biryani and chicken 65 for any customer.

In no time, the road in front of the two shops was filled with people, including women waiting in line to get their paper plate filled with both biryani and chicken 65. The distribution of free food ended around 1.30 pm.
