CHENNAI: NTK Chief Seeman on Friday said that he will not allow the airport in Parandur as long as he is alive and added that NTK will intensify the protests against the State government if it persists with the airport project.

Seeman visited the 13 villages which will be affected in the Parandur project and interacted with the residents of the villages. After obtaining their views, Seeman, while addressing the media, said that DMK is trying to sell the Airport to Gautam Adani, Founder and Chairperson of Adani Group.Parandur airport land row: Addl IG of registration dept suspended

"At a time when the Indian government is on an airport selling spree what is the purpose of the government constructing a second airport in Chennai? Adani is now constructing sea ports but if he wants to construct an Airport there will be public protest and so the government is constructing an Airport and will hand it over to Adani, " said Seeman.

He also said that none complained about the existing airport in Meenambakkam and even recently the world's largest Aircraft landed in Chennai Airport. Under the circumstances, there is no need for a second airport by destroying the farm lands. "Anyone can build an Airport but not all can develop a farm land. We need the hard work of several generations to develop farm lands," said Seeman, who further alleged that it was the same DMK which protested against the Chennai-Salem eight lane project when it was the opposition party and now after coming to power it is implementing the same project by changing its name.
