Around 8.30am, a TNSTC bus was bound to Manjur from Coimbatore. While turning at a hair pin bend near Kettai, two wild elephants came in the way of the bus.

The driver brought the bus to halt and tourist vehicles began to que up on the stretch. The wild elephants after wandering around for a while had later retreated back into the forest.

Then, vehicle traffic resumed on the arterial stretch. Vehicle riders said that wild elephants frequently stray out of the forest and move around on the Manjur road threatening the lives of public. A few days ago on December 25, tourists had a rare sighting of an adult leopard resting on a stretch in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

Even though two forest department vehicles came in the opposite direction, the animal stayed calm in the same position for about 15 minutes before retreating into the jungle. The photos of the incident were now shared in social media.
