CHENNAI: Former minister for municipal administration SP Velumani on Thursday said that no funds have been allotted to Amma canteens by the DMK government. “In the last two budgets in 2021-22 and 2022-23 no allocation has been made for Amma canteens. The ruling DMK out of political vendetta has decided to shut down Amma canteens and hence, no funds has been allotted to them,” he said, while participating in the debate on demands for grants on Municipal Administration Department. Replying to him Minister KN Nehru said, the government has no intention to shelve any project introduced by the AIADMK and said that Chief Minister MK Stalin has not given any such instructions and has issued directions to local bodies to provide funds for Amma canteens.
