Welcome BJP’s interlinking rivers promise: Rajini

For the second time in the past six months, Rajnikanth on Tuesday supported the BJP’s poll promise of implementing interlinking of rivers. Though the DMK, which is an alliance partner of the Congress, also had a mention of the river interlinking, the actor’s support came for the saffron party.

However, the actor, known for his pro-BJP stand, told reporters at his Poes Garden residence that there was no change in his stand of not supporting any political party in the coming elections. “I’ve been pushing for inter-linking (of rivers). BJP has said it would form a commission for interlinking of rivers. It’s welcome,” he said. Noting that interlinking of rivers was a dream of former Vajpayee, the superstar recalled he had taken up the issue with the former when he met him and suggested that it be christened “Bhagiratham Yojana.”
