CHENNAI: The apex court has authorised the general body meeting of the party but has not mentioned anything about the resolutions passed in the meeting, and so we will appeal against this order, said R Vaithilingam from OPS camp on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters in Thanjavur, Vaithilingam said the court has clearly stated that the general body meeting is valid and cannot intervene into the case in progress at the civil court.

“The court order, thus, states that it can not approve the resolutions passed at the general body meeting and so this verdict is favourable for us, and we will appeal against the resolutions,” Vaithilingam said.

The court said that it has not dealt with the matter of resolutions before the party that were being heard by the single judge.

“We leave it open for the said resolutions to be dealt with in accordance in law,” the bench had said, Vaithilingam pointed out and stressed that the verdict was not a setback to the supporters of OPS in the AIADMK.

After going through the verdict in detail, the future course of action will be decided, he said.

Earlier, Vaithilingam said the OPS faction has been striving to uphold the unity of the party and at no point will they allow anyone to destroy the party.
