Justice K Kalyanasundaram before whom the election-related petitions filed by the association members came up had declared that the elections to various posts were held without following the rules and regulations on January 24, 2019. Further, Justice Kalyanasundaram had appointed former High Court judge B Gokuldas as an election officer for supervising the election of office-bearers.

Actor Vishal filed an appeal before the High Court challenging the single bench order. “There are many associations in Tamil Nadu which are functioning with the same administrators without an election. But Nadigar Sangam election was held after consultations in general body meeting. The election cost us Rs 35 lakh. So, we request the court to quash the single bench order and count the votes and declare the winners,” Vishal’s petition read.
