Virus scare helps thief flee hospital

In a bizarre incident a two-wheeler thief caught red-handed by locals and handed over to police escaped from the hospital where he was admitted for COVID-19 tests late on Tuesday.

Asghar Ali (28) of Bengaluru was caught by residents of Vaniyambadi town when he attempted to steal a motorbike. He was handed over to Vaniyambadi town police. Interrogation revealed that he had 9 similar cases pending against him. Since, he said he was from Bengaluru, police fearing that he might be infected with coronavirus rushed him to Vaniyambadi GH for taking samples without even filing a case. Left without strict vigil in the hospital, Ali escaped from there.
