Village assistant positions to be filled soon: TN govt’s order

CHENNAI: Commissioner of Revenue Administration, SK Prabhakar, on Tuesday wrote to Collectors to fill all vacant village assistant positions across the State.

The letter delivered to all district Collectors mentioned: “As per the provided information on the number of vacant village assistant posts in each district as on September 3, 2,748 positions are open in Tamil Nadu from October 1, 2019, to September 30, 2022.”

Subject to regulations, immediate action should be taken to fill these positions, he ordered.

He also directed to fill up the vacancies without any violations in accordance with the laws and regulations.

Applications submitted for this purpose should be taken into consideration on November 14, followed by official interviews and appointment orders must be issued by December 19. The list of selected candidates should be published on December 19 and work orders should be issued on the same day.

“Deputy Collectors should be appointed as monitoring officers at Taluk-level to monitor the writing skill test for this purpose. Candidates can write an essay not exceeding 100 words on village details or land inscriptions or village accounts or any topic mentioned by the Collectors,” it mentioned.

Candidates can be asked to read passages from any book to test their reading ability.

The district Collectors should confirm whether the recruitment conducted at the Taluk-level by the Tahsildars properly followed the rules and on which date can the village assistant selection process be conducted. Additionally the letter stated that the Collectors should issue rules and guidelines to the Tahsildars as a circular.
