Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani on Thursday condemned the state government and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department, for directing officials to conduct special prayers for rain in all the temples.

In a statement he said, “A third standard student will know how rain is formed, but it is sad that IAS officers are not aware of the fact. It is a shame that their education is of no use to them and the garbage in their mind is responsible for such thinking.”

Veeramani questioned, “How can a party functioning in the name of former chief minister Annadurai, pass such an unscientific order.” “The work of HR&CE department is to administer the temples and not to conduct prayers. The circular is unconstitutional and is against the secular nature of the government,” noted Veeramani.
