CHENNAI: AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Saturday accused the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of attempting to fabricate legislative support through a forged letter purportedly issued by AMMK MLA-elect S Kamaraj.
Speaking to reporters in Adyar after meeting Governor RV Arlekar, Dhinakaran alleged that a video circulated by TVK leaders showing Kamaraj signing a letter of support was dubious and possibly generated using Artificial Intelligence.
"Where was the video recorded? Who shot it? Was it Vijay, Anand or Sengottaiyan? Today, anything can be created using AI," he said, while questioning the authenticity of both the video and the support letter allegedly submitted to the Lok Bhavan.
According to Dhinakaran, the Governor had sought the original copy of the letter when TVK representatives submitted the document claiming Kamaraj's support. "They said they would produce it later and left. We have clearly informed the Governor that the document and the video are fraudulent, " he said.
Escalating his attack on TVK chief C Joseph Vijay, Dhinakaran said it was ironic that those promising to eradicate corruption were themselves facing allegations of forgery even before assuming office.
"They perhaps believed that pressuring a single MLA would be easy. This appears to be part of a horse-trading exercise," he alleged, asserting that he would not allow the matter to be brushed aside.
In a strongly worded remark, Dhinakaran described TVK as a dangerous political force and warned that if such methods are employed merely to form a government, it would spell disaster for the State once they assume power. He called the TVK ‘azhivu sakthi’ (destructive force) of the State, the real evil one.
How can Vijay claim himself an alternative after surviving the government with the support of DMK, which he termed as 'theeya sakthi'? He is now forming the government only with the support of 'theeya sakthi' allies, ultimately ending up as the 'azhivu sakthi' for the entire State, Dhinakaran said.
While Dhinakaran termed it “forgery “, the TVK responded by releasing a video purportedly showing Kamaraj signing the letter inside a car, while AMMK claimed it as AI-created footage.
TVK also denied indulging in any “horse-trading” to meet the requisite numbers in the Assembly and said the party leader, Vijay, would not stoop to such a low level.
But Dhinakaran raised questions regarding the authenticity of the video. “On what basis did you meet him (Kamaraj)? Where did you meet? In which car? In which town? Where did you take that? “ he asked.
“I suspect that the TVK, in a desperate bid to form the government, as it lacked the majority, might have indulged in horse-trading,” Dhinakaran alleged.
