Trichy shocker: 11 police squads launch probe, post-mortem rules out sexual assault

A day after the gruesome discovery of a burnt body of a 14-year-old girl near Adavathur village in Trichy, police have began investigating the case with highest priority.

The 11 special squads led by Trichy Zone SP, Ziaul Haqe have began investigation in the matter. More than 10 people have been probed in connection with the case and some have been taken into custody. No arrests have been made.

The incident came to light when locals found a body near a garbage disposal area on Monday late afternoon and informed the police.

The girl, a 9th class student, was said to have left her house at 12:15 pm to throw trash but never returned

"Investigation has led to two people being detained at Somarasampettai police station. New details have been collected in the course of their interrogation so far," IG Jayaram said.

The police have registered a case of suspicious death.

The body of the deceased was returned to the family after post-mortem at Trichy Government Hospital. The autopsy report has ruled out sexual assault.
