CHENNAI: Two weeks after a 23-year-old television serial editor was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Velappanchavadi when his two-wheeler was run over by a container truck that fled the scene without stopping, the Avadi City Police arrested the driver and also booked the supervisor who failed to alert the police despite information about the accident.

The deceased, A Nitish Sarwan, was returning home after work on December 16 when the accident happened. After the truck involved in the accident fled the scene without stopping, taking advantage of the late hours (11.30 pm), the Avadi Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) personnel initiated investigations to identify the vehicle and pored over several hours of CCTV footage.

On December 27, the police arrested the driver, C Raja (53) of Mannargudi, who was later remanded in judicial custody.
