CHENNAI: Another member of the State Cabinet has taken to taunting the BJP-led centre. After State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, now state IT minister Mano Thangaraj has started taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led regime. Mano Thangaraj on Tuesday took a jibe at the Modi regime over industrialist Gautam Adani’s meteoric rise to the third position in the global ranking of the richest.

“The Indian Prime Minister has secured us the pride of being the country that has given the maximum loan to the third richest person in the world, ” Thangaraj tweeted. Quoting author James Crabtree as saying that Gautam Adani’s business rise started after Narendra Modi became the Gujarat chief minister in 2001, the IT minister said, “Considering that, it is not surprising that Adani has become the third richest person in the world.”

He also sarcastically added that it is the prime duty of a person ruling the country to secure such a position (third richest in the world) to his friend.

The minister also referred to the ‘shocking’ Fitch report warning last week that the Adani group might spiral into a debt trap and never come out of the Rs 2.2 lakh crore debt. Thangaraj has joined his Cabinet colleague PTR, who has been one of the harshest critics of the BJP regime’s hardline Hindutva and ‘flawed’ economic policy.
