TN lists PwD posts in Secretariat

The expert committee met in October 2025 and examined the feasibility of extending reservation benefits to promotional posts in various services.

CHENNAI: In line with the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, an expert committee of the government has identified suitable posts for Differently Abled Persons under the four per cent reservation in Secretariat services.

According to a Government Order, the reservation is applicable not only to direct recruitment but also to promotions in government departments. The expert committee met in October 2025 and examined the feasibility of extending reservation benefits to promotional posts in various services.

The committee identified suitable posts for differently-abled persons in promotions within the Secretariat service, in addition to direct recruitment categories. Based on its recommendations, the government has approved the identification of specific posts for promotion under the disability quota.

As per the Government Order, the expert committee has recommended the inclusion of certain categories of disabilities for promotion to posts such as Assistant, Assistant Section Officer, Section Officer, Under Secretary, Personal Clerk, Senior Personal Clerk, Personal Assistant, Private Secretary, Senior Private Secretary, Record Clerk and Record Assistant in the Secretariat.
