TN covid-19 deaths cross 600, 26k samples tested in last 24 hours

Tamil Nadu witnesses sharp rise of COVID-19 patients with 2,141 fresh cases on Thursday, taking the total tally to 52,334, the state Health Department said.

Chennai saw the highest number of COVID-19 infections at 1,373 taking the total tally to 37,070 and is followed by Chengalpattu (3,285), Tiruvallur (2,155), Kancheepuram (945), Thiruvannamalai (843) and Cuddalore (646).

The statement said 1,017 patients were discharged from various hospitals, taking the total to 28,641. The total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu now stands at 23,065.

A total of 26,736 samples were tested over the past 24 hours, which now total over 8 lakh.

The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 2,619.
