TN Covid count crosses 2.5 lakh: 5,879 new cases reported

The COVID positive cases reported in Tamil Nadu on Friday was 5,879 taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 2,51,728.

Tamil Nadu recorded 5,879 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the tally to 2.51 lakh. The state saw a new highest-single-day death toll as 99 people succumbed to the virus.

The death toll in the state stands at 4,034, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The reports also said that 7,010 patients were cured and discharged today.

The capital city Chennai is witnessing a mild increase in the number of COVID-19 cases with the city reporting 1,074 cases on Saturday, while 4,805 new infections were reported in other districts in total.
