In his petition, he also requested that express trains be made to halt at this important station for the benefit of the increasing number of devotees arriving from various parts of the country. His request was for trains between Chennai and Tiruvannamalai via Katpadi and Villupuram.

This was because of the increasing number of pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh who visit Tiruvannamalai. Local resident Sethu said next to TN, it was pilgrims from AP who arrived in sizeable numbers due to which many rest houses had come up offering free stay for residents of AP.
