Tiruvannamalai, Arni buses to operate from old bus stand

As the works for the new bus stand under the Smart City project is underway in the district, arrangements have been made at the old bus stand to operate buses to Tiruvannamalai and Arni from Sunday.

Earlier, the buses for these two places were operated from the new bus stand behind the Selliamman temple, but as construction will impede the area, officials ordered that they be shifted to the old bus stand near the Vellore fort.


Many shops and hotels have been demolished to construct the new bus stand estimated at Rs 46.51 crore under the Smart CityProject.


However, as construction will now impede the area where buses for these two destinations were parked, officials have ordered that they be shifted to the old bus stand near the Vellore fort.


Vellore DRO J Parthiban inspected the area to ensure that all passenger related amenities were available at the new venue which till now was used only by town buses.


The vehicles bound for Arni and Tiruvannamalai will halt near theTiruvalluvar statue inside the old bus stand from Sunday for passengers, officials said.
