Tiruttani: Man punched over comments at youth, say Railway police

Another video surfaced on social media on Wednesday, in which a man was assaulted by a duo at Tiruttani railway station.

CHENNAI: Within days of four minor boys attacking an Odisha youth with machetes while travelling in a Tiruttani-bound EMU and later at an abandoned quarters near the railway station, another video surfaced on social media on Wednesday, in which a man was assaulted by a duo at Tiruttani railway station.

After tracing the victim, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said he was in an inebriated state and had made some comments to a group of youth (which he does not remember), after which they punched him.

In an inebriated state, the man had exchanged few words with a duo there, enraged over which one of them attacked him and pushed him on the platform. The injured man was treated at a hospital while the police have formed teams to trace the duo.

The victim, who is involved in buying and selling used clothes, had visited a Tasmac outlet near the railway station with his friend and had walked up to the station platform to urinate, police said.
