Coimbatore: Four, including a couple, were injured in separate mishaps while following the car of TVK president actor Vijay in their two-wheelers in Tirupur on Thursday, as the fledgling party's chief was on his way back from the Erode public meeting towards Coimbatore.

After his public campaign at Vijayamangalam in Erode, Vijay was driven to Coimbatore by car to continue to Chennai. In a bid to catch a glimpse of him, several fans followed his vehicle on two-wheelers.

In another incident, some people who were having tea at a bakery rushed to the road to see Vijay’s vehicle pass by in the Pallagoundampalayam area when they met with an accident.

A two-wheeler ran into the crowd, injuring Kannan (32) from Mettupalayam and Jeevitha (33) from Tirupur. The duo were admitted to Tirupur Government Hospital. The Uthukuli police have registered a case, and further inquiries are on.
