Three schoolboys drown while bathing in pond in Vellore

Officials said that Akash (12) and Harish (11) sons of Jeeva a daily wage earner of Abdullapuram went along with their friend Immanuel (13) son of Victor of the area to bathe in a small pond near a temple on the national highway on Sunday evening.

VELLORE: Three schoolboys, who went to a pond to bathe drowned on Sunday evening. Officials said that Akash (12) and Harish (11) sons of Jeeva a daily wage earner of Abdullapuram went along with their friend Immanuel (13) son of Victor of the area to bathe in a small pond near a temple on the national highway on Sunday evening. They parked their cycles on the bank and entered the water not knowing that the pond was recently deepened for the immersion of Ganesh idols after Vinayak Chaturthi. As the boys did not return after a long time, their parents started searching for them and located their cycles and clothes near the pond. With the help of locals they were able to retrieve the bodies of Akash and Harish. Immanuel’s body was also located and taken to Vellore Pentland Hospital where doctors said that all three boys were already dead.
