Three killed in road accidents in Tiruvallur

Police said that both youths were employed at a chicken stall in Uthukottai. Police are searching for the absconding load van driver.

CHENNAI: Three persons were killed in different road accidents in Tiruvallur district on Saturday night.

In one accident near Periyapalayam, Pugazhendhi (20) was killed after an over-speeding lorry hit his two-wheeler from behind. He lost balance and fell onto the road and was run over by the lorry.

Periyapalayam police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. They said that Pugazhendhi was riding back home from the local market in Uthukottai when the accident happened.

In another accident near Uthukottai, Salman (19), a resident of Vadamadurai Erikuppam village, died after a load van collided with his bike. His friend, Mubazir Ali (18) survived with injuries.

Police said that both youths were employed at a chicken stall in Uthukottai. Police are searching for the absconding load van driver.

In the third incident in Kavaraipettai police station limits, a 38-year-old man died, and his wife sustained injuries after they fell off the motorcycle after another bike hit them from behind.

The deceased was identified as Swaminathan (38). His wife, Sangeetha (37) is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
