Thanjavur: Pvt firm staff loses Rs 19 L in e-trading

TIRUCHY: A private firm employee in Thanjavur lost Rs 19.83 lakh in e-trading, and the police registered a case on Friday.

It is said that Velavan (34) from Kumbakonam received a call on January 4, and the caller asked him to deposit certain money for an attractive incentive. Fascinated, Velavan completed certain tasks and received an incentive of Rs 44,000, and the amount was credited to his bank account.

Similarly, on January 9, Velavan received messages from the same caller, and this time, he deposited a fund of Rs 19.83 lakh in 12 instalments.

Thereafter, the caller was not traceable. He approached the cybercrime police, who found that the money sent by Velavan was credited into various bank accounts across the country. Subsequently, the six accounts were frozen.
