Thanjai ryot gets explosives in courier parcel, e-comm firm’s hand suspected

Tension prevailed at Orathanadu in Thanjavur district on Friday after a farmer received a gelatin stick with detonator connectors from a fake address. A complaint was registered with the police suspecting it as an act of threatening by an e-commerce firm from Tiruchy over a money transaction issue.

It is said, K Arivazhagan (27), an engineering graduate, who is looking after the agricultural activities along with his father Karunanidhi at Kannanthakudi near Orathanadu, received a parcel by courier on Thursday evening from one Karthirappan in Tiruchy.

Arivazhagan who received the parcel opened it on Friday morning and he was shocked to see a gelatin stick weighing 125 gram and an electric detonator connector weighing 10 gram. Soon, he buried the explosive items in the field and informed the Orathanadu police. On information, the Orathanadu police along with the bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot and seized the explosive. The police also registered a case and commenced an investigation. An initial investigation found that the sender’s details were fake.

Meanwhile, Arivazhagan who suspected Elfin e-Com Private Limited in Kallukuzhi, which reportedly attract people of multiplying the money. He had deposited a fund of Rs 54.76 lakh by collecting from several people in and around Orathanadu. “They had promised to triple the fund within 10 months and so I collected the fund from many people and deposited the fund. But the firm failed to repay even the capital amount and so I filed a complaint with the Thanjavur SP on September 1 against the proprietor Raja, who is the founder of Aram Makkal Nala Sangam and his brother Rajkumar,” said Arivazhagan. “In order to threaten me, they might have sent this parcel,“ Arivazhagan added.
