The results run contrary to popular notion that telecommunications are likely to decline when the lockdown is relaxed. As per a report, ‘Emergence of teleconsultation in Bharat: How Bharat has leveraged teleconsultation since lockdown’, that collated data over six months till September 2020, even tier 3 and non-metro cities have seen an increase.
Even the government telemedicine consultation platforms are being used by patients across the State. More and more women are seeking medical advice via teleconsulting.
Over 64 per cent of patients asked for online consultations with an allopathic doctor from June-August, while the share of ayurveda was 24.3 per cent and homoeopathy 11.4 per cent.
Releasing the report, company founders Rajat Garg and Manuj Garg said growing trust in teleconsulting and a shift in perception of online health services in the post-COVID world have played a role.
Telecommunications also helped chemists and laboratories to fill prescriptions and run tests during and after the lockdown, the report added.
