Tamil YouTube channel crosses 1 crore subscribers, receives diamond play button award

A Tamil YouTube channel called Village Cooking Channel started by a few cousins from Chinna Veeramangalam in the Pudukkottai district is famous for village food, and traditional recipes.

A few months ago, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi appeared on this YouTube channel — he was seen eating with locals and the video went viral. Recently, the channel crossed one crore subscribers and received the diamond play button award from YouTube.

They have also contributed Rs 10 lakh to the chief minister’s COVID-19 relief fund. In a video shared on July 4, the members were seen unboxing the award. They said that it is the first time a diamond play button award is being given to a YouTube channel in South India.

The members also expressed that this award will help them to do better.
