CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government will organise its first-ever International Tourism Summit from February 2 at Mahabalipuram, a globally renowned heritage destination.
The announcement was made jointly by Minister for Tourism R Rajendran and Minister for Industries TRB Rajaa at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Ministers said the summit would be hosted at Mahabalipuram, one of the world's most famous tourist destinations, which attracts a large number of international visitors every year.
The summit aims to showcase Tamil Nadu's tourism potential across multiple sectors.
Addressing the media, Rajaa said Tamil Nadu ranked number one in tourism, covering areas such as heritage, culture and medical tourism. "Beyond cultural festivals, we should also highlight and celebrate other dimensions of our tourist destinations," he said.

Meanwhile, the State government will also organise a two-day India Global Education Summit in Chennai from January 28, officials said.
